Editorial Guidelines for Submitting Articles to Southwest Parenting Magazine
These editorial guidelines are just a friendly reminder of what we can accept and can’t accept for inclusion in our magazine. Before you submit articles for consideration in the magazine, we would appreciate if you would please carefully read this page first.
- Southwest Parenting Magazine: (CONTENT QUALIFICATIONS)
- The article must be an original work that you wrote. If it’s written by someone else, please submit the article as if it was from the original author including his or her email address.
- Article MUST be informative, share your unique expertise, and also fit within the niche of the magazine. This could be tips, strategies, techniques, analysis, opinions etc. on parenting related issues.
- CANNOT be a press release, advertisement, sales letter, promotional copy, or blatant self-promotion.
- MUST HAVE proper English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization and sentence structure. We’re aware that everyone has different writing styles, but we ask that you at least be consistent within your article.
- MUST NOT contain: pornographic material, hate or violence-oriented speech, suggest racial intolerance, have an insulting, obscene, degrading tone, or contain profanity.
- MUST NOT be a submission of the exact same article as one that you already submitted to our magazine in the past. Please don’t try to submit the same article multiple times with only a few words changed in the body. It won’t be approved.
- Southwest Parenting Magazine: (Article FORMAT, BODY & BIO)
- WE DOT NOT allow your AUTHOR NAME or any WEBSITE URL to be in your TITLE.
- WE DO NOT accept articles that do not deliver on the article title. The article has to make sense and match what the title suggests.
- MUST BE a minimum of 100 words and no more than 450 words. An ideal article size for a half page is 250 words. A full page is 400 words.
- DO NOT try to sell in the article body by including your URL or product pitch or blatant self-promotion. Your article will not be approved. The bio is where you get to pitch yourself or your website address at the end of the article.
- BIO: The purpose of the article bio is to give a 2-3 sentence summary of who you are and what you do. It should not exceed 50 words. We strongly recommend including your website and email address.
